How to Design a Budget Friendly Quiet Time Space

As a Christian mom, having quiet time alone is not only important for my spirituality, but my sanity!

Between running my business, meeting with clients, taking care of home and the children, life can get hectic very quickly. It is impossible to pour from an empty cup.

Having a time set aside for meditation and prayer is vital.

I love to get up early in the morning and have quiet time with my Father. For you, you may have quiet time in the middle of the day or late at night. There is no quiet time standard. The only standard is ensuring that you have it.

I wanted to design a specific place in my home where I could spend with Jesus so that everyone else would know when mom is there, that’s her time and her space.

While I’m sure we all want a super fancy quiet time space, it’s not always in the budget to spend a lot of money. Here are a few tips that will help you design a budget-friendly quiet time space.

How to Design a Budget-Friendly Quiet Time Space

Choose Your Space

Find an area in your home where you know you won’t be disturbed. It may be your closet, an area next to the bed, or maybe you have a room you office you can use.

Wherever you choose to make your quiet time space, let everyone know where it is and when you plan to use it. Mornings are best for me but when I can’t get in my quiet time in the morning, I will do it at night or during my toddler’s nap time.

Make it clear to those in your home that this is your designated space for your time with Jesus. I created this adorable printable that you can use to put in your quiet time space.

Personalize Your Area

Once you have chosen your space, you can now begin to personalize it. I chose the corner in my closet since there is enough room for me inside. You don’t have to spend tons of money to make your space your own. I use a pillow I already had perfect for my little corner. Depending on what area you chose, you may already have a chair or things you can use in your home.

I also purchased a wall plaque from Dollar Tree to place in my corner. You can use things like flowers, pictures, whatever things make you happy and able to concentrate on God and isn’t a distraction.

Create a Quiet Time Basket

If you don’t have a place you can section off for your quiet time, you can create a budget-friendly basket for everything you may need for your time with God and put it in a basket that you can keep in your bedroom or closet. I found all of my basket goodies at Dollar Tree as well. I filled it with pens, highlighters, and a notebook along with my Bible.

Add Some Smells

I am all about the smells! Candles, essential oils or little fragrance satchels make your space even more comfortable and customized.

You can do other things to create a quiet time space you love without breaking the bank. The key is making it comfortable and inviting so that you enjoy spending time there.

Spending more time with Jesus not only restores your faith daily but helps you take on the day and be a better mom and a better person to those you impact.
